We recognise that the end of a relationship – whether it’s a marriage, civil partnership or co-habitation - especially when children are involved, is deeply traumatic and stressful for all concerned.

Separation and divorce are not only a personal crisis. They are also complex legal matters, and each case raises its own specific issues. Our family solicitors have a wealth of experience they can bring to even the most difficult cases, and their expert knowledge will ensure you achieve the best possible outcome for you and your children.

We are committed to dealing with family law matters in a constructive, non-confrontational way, aimed at achieving the right outcome for our clients as quickly and cost-effectively as possible, and having regard to the best interests of any children that may be involved.

Whatever the circumstances of the break-up, we will outline the options available to you, guide you through every step of the process, protect your financial interests and do our very best to minimise conflict and stress.

Humfrys & Symonds works in partnership with Mediation Herefordshire, a member of National Family Mediation.  Mediation offers couples a chance to talk together and come to an agreement regarding their children, property and other financial matters, without going to court. This can help to reduce the emotional, as well as the financial costs of separation and divorce.

If mediation is appropriate for you, and you choose to participate in the process, you will be offered mediation services and legal advice on a fixed fee basis, giving you the reassurance of knowing how much it may cost to reach a mutually acceptable agreement with your partner, and to make it legally binding.

To find out how mediation could work for you, visit National Family Mediation.

Our wide-ranging expertise means that we can also advise on issues relating to cohabitation, civil partnerships, pre-nuptial agreements, domestic abuse, injunctions and child care proceedings.

National Family Mediation

The Family Mediation scheme offers both mediation and legal advice on a fixed fee basis, so that you know in advance exactly how much it’s going to cost to reach a mutually acceptable agreement with your partner about your children, property and other financial matters involved in the divorce or separation, and to make it legally binding.

Any of our Family Team solicitors, including Beverley Bradshaw, Anna Tay-Lodge and Huw Jones, can advise and work with you through Family Mediation to help you achieve the right outcome.

Anna Tay-Lodge is a long-standing member of Resolution - an organisation that promotes an approach to family law that is sensitive, constructive, cost-effective and most likely to result in an agreement. The principles set out in Resolution’s Code of Practice are recognised by the Law Society as best practice for all family lawyers.

Association of Lawyers for Children (ALC)

Law Society Family Panel / Law Society Children Panel

Our highly experienced team includes members of the Law Society Children Panel and Law Society Family Panel.  To achieve these accreditations, our solicitors will have shown, to the satisfaction of the Law Society, that they have and maintain a high level of knowledge, skills, experience and practice in the area of family law and children law, including representing parents and children in child care proceedings brought by the Local Authority.
